Schuld und Sühne – Amerikas Gefängnisse

Ein interessantes Aperçu von heute: Manchmal macht es einfach Spaß, die Welt durch die Brille der Zahlen zu betrachten. Etwa so:

Das ist anscheinend auf ein spezifisch amerikanisches Rechtsempfinden (verbunden mit einer entsprechenden Praxis) zurückzuführen, deren Essenz bereits im Titel genannt ist.

Eine weitere Stelle des Artikels hat mich zu psychologischen Spekulationen angeregt:

San Marino, with a population of about 30,000, is at the end of the long list of 218 countries compiled by the center. It has a single prisoner.
