Digitale Bücher
Dass Google (und natürlich auch Microsoft) versuchen, Bücher zu digitalisieren und damit jedem im Internet einfach verfügbar zu machen ist toll. Dass jemand mit der Open Content Alliance auf die Idee kommt, das auf Non-Profit-Basis zu machen, ist toller. Und das es einige Bibliotheken gibt, die das bevorzugen, finde ich richtig stark.
Die NYTimes (Libraries Shun Deals to Place Books on Web, 22.10.2007) schreibt:
But the resistance from some libraries, like the Boston Public Library and the Smithsonian Institution, suggests that many in the academic and nonprofit world are intent on pursuing a vision of the Web as a global repository of knowledge that is free of business interests or restrictions.
